Between Bearnese valleys and the interior Basque Country, the Atlantic Pyrenees offer characterful mountains, shaped by pastoralism and seasons. From the slopes of Pic du Midi d'Ossau to the forests of Iraty, summer pastures stretch between ridges, mist and sea of clouds. Under oceanic influence, the mountains become greener, wetter and more enveloping.
The GR10 and Haute Route des Pyrénées (HRP) trace their lines here, connecting villages, passes and mountain huts through a territory both pastoral and wild. Here, the mountain is shared: pastoral trails, shepherd huts, forests and summer pastures. A short or longer stay to explore a living and contrasting mountain, between Atlantic mists and valley culture.
